No one ever posts user fiction. Here's the first page of a story I started writing today. This is an early draft.
“How do we know if what we’re doing is right? I mean, we’ve been here for what, 3 years? And what have we accomplished? Killing off our own men for the blood money of a man we want dead? How do we justify this, by saying something like… oh, we had to if we wanted our people to survive? Well, that’s not good enough for me, Hadrian. It never has been.”
I began to wake up and lift my head, but immediately got knocked back down by my splitting headache.
“What do you want us to do, huh? Tell Brono to stop what we’re doing for cause we think it‘s wrong? I’m not arguing about how messed up this stuff is that Aran’s making us do, but there’s nothing else we can do.”
Dried blood flaked off my hand as I struggled to reach for my bag, hoping there was one last pain killer left. Clad and Hadrian continued their conversation across the campfire. I wasn’t sure if they had noticed my being awake yet.
“We had no choice. It was the lesser of two evils, or at least it was then,” Hadrian continued, “I don’t disagree with you about how this turned out, but how could we have known? We only did what we saw as right, what anyone would have seen as right. We can’t be blamed for that.”
No pills left. Everything was silent for a few minutes as those two pondered about what they’d done, what we’d all done. “So what happens now, do we just continue being puppets for him? Or do we try and stop this?” Clad asked.
More silence, shorter this time.
“You know that can’t happen…” Hadrian murmured under his breath, “I don’t think anyone knows what to do next. Not even our wonder boy Drake over there.”
I heard them turn toward me, at least one of them.
“Hey, you all right? We weren’t sure how you even lived through that one,” Clad said to me.
“Yeah, looked like things didn’t quite work out the way you planned. At least the battle’s over, right?”
“If you say so,” I said, sitting up and looking into the glare of the campfire. Glancing ahead, I could see the destruction I had apparently caused. “How did it turn out?” I asked.
“Well, better than it could have,” Hadrian commented, “but that’s not to say things went perfectly.” He saw where I was looking. “Just look at it. What do you think happened? Nothing good I suppose?”
“No, nothing good…” I stated. Hadrian Lockhart, my good friend since the early age of five. Lord, how long has it been since we lived together in our peaceful town of Nomae, making havoc with the citizens and dreaming the big dreams? Ha, we thought we’d be Bladeball stars, imagine that. Some dream it’s turned out to be.

What? I'll sue them using my nonexistant copyright. The outline really fleshes out the story, which this first page reveals almost nothing of.
